Newcastle's premier music event announces...

Beneath the six bridges, on the modernised Quay, Newcastle’s premier festival, ‘Evolution’, returns to straddle the River Tyne once again with a horde of mammoth acts to boot. Clash are on board with the Northern bash every step of the way, in a partnership destined for revelry.

Past Evolution Weekender’s showed that the geordie party planners have a knack for the ‘next big thing’, and 2011’s line up has plenty nominees for that tag, with Jamie Woon, Detroit Social Club, Brother, Bravestation and Spark all jostling for stage position.

The guilty pleasure seekers will be appeased by the inclusion of Tinie Tempah, Darwin Deez and the Queen of dubstep herself; Katy B, whilst the alternatively inclined can wander up to the dainty Ballast Hills stage for real ales, real instruments and a Billy Bragg led folk line up.

It’s the bill toppers that showcase Evolution’s desire for diversity, old and new, with the legendary punk innovators Iggy & The Stooges leading Saturday’s line up, and the soulfully reinvented Plan B closing, what remains; the most affordable outdoor music event in the UK.
