Clash Takes The Acid Test

With a unique Animal Collective cover
Clash Magazine Issue 77 - September 2012 - Animal Collective
Issue 77 of Clash Magazine is out now with Animal Collective our cover stars. The cover is a digital artwork based piece created in collaboration with the band to coincide with the release of their new album 'Centipede HZ'.

The 8 page cover story is playing with the idea of contemporary digital psychedelia in print, inspired by the early film work of Kenneth Anger and print work of Oz Magazine. The magazine's Artistic Director worked closely with young film Maker Niall Trask to create a print cover using digital stills from a hyper colour, acid trip inspired moving image piece filmed exclusively when the band where in London this summer.

Baltimore’s most mellifluous and lysergic of bands return with ‘Centepede HZ’, a dense foray into a livid world of creepy crawlies, alien jams and lost astral radio broadcasts. Along the way we find out whether panda bear shot some hoops with tupac, and who can’t handle their acid.

Also in the issue are Grizzly Bear, Matthew Dear, Kendricks Lamar, Remy Banks, Flaming Lips, Michael Jackson's 'BAD' at 25 and a look at the history of Black British Film.

In fashion we look at Giorgio Armani's Batman team up, pick the best, new items on the high street, look at Louise Gray's collaboration with Top Shop, the new KR3W collection, a new fashion mixtape playlist by Craig Ford and two exclusive shoots.

Film talks to 'Berberian Sound Studio''s Toby Jones and Joe Cole of Borstal drama 'Offender', reviews new films hitting the cinemas of the land this month including 'Ted', 'Shadow Dancer' and 'Shut Up And Play The Hits' and has a look at DVD & Blu-Ray releases, '21 Jump Street', 'Marley' and more.

Coldcut's Matt Black tells us about his Ninja Jamm iPhone app in our Tech section and we look at the essential gear you'll be drooling after in the next four weeks.

Then there's all the music, fashion, film and tech news and reviews to keep you on top of it all until we meet again.
