Scottish group tackle 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'

CHVRCHES are proving to be increasingly adept at the cover version, at re-interpreting older material.

Just before Christmas, the Scottish trio covered East 17's 'Stay Another Day' while an appearance at a recent Billboard-curated Stateside event saw CHVRCHES slow Janelle Monae's 'Tightrope' to an elegiac crawl.

Now the band have confirmed plans to cover a goth classic. 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' became Bauhaus' calling card, a piece of shock rock with a cold, black heart and an industrial edge.

CHVRCHES are to record their own version, which will be used in the closing credits of Marc Walters' upcoming flick 'Vampire Academy'.

The full soundtrack looks enticing, with Goldfrapp, Au Revoir Simone and Katy Perry (!) donating previously released material.

'Vampire Academy' is set to open in cinemas on Valentine's Day.
