Singer apologises to fans...

Cat Power has pulled out of a scheduled show in Israel due to "confusion in her soul".

It must be tough being a music fan in Israel. The nation is the subject of numerous personal boycotts, with everyone from Pixies to Elvis Costello opting to pull out of shows in the state.

Cat Power scheduled a show in Tel Aviv for February 13th, but recent Facebook updates suggested that she had begun to doubt whether this was appropriate. Yesterday the singer wrote:

"MUSIC IS HEALING AND IT IS NOT HUMANE IF ALL CANNOT HAVE THE CHOICE, THE RIGHT, TO ATTEND.
H E L P, A W A R E N E S S X X X X X"

Following this, Cat Power attempted to organise an additional show on Palestinian territories:

"CAN SOMEONE HELP ME FIND A SHOW IN RAMALLAH, MONDAY FEB. 13 FOR THE PEOPLE OF PALESTINE?
I AM GETTING NO LUCK....
T H A N K U !!!!!!!! XXXXX"

Finally, Cat Power made the decision to pull out of her Israel show:

"DUE TO MUCH CONFUSION IN MY SOUL,PLAY?NG FOR MY ?SRAEL? FANS W/SUCH UNREST BETWEEN ?SRAEL&PALEST?NE I CAN'T PLAY,AS I FEEL SICK IN MY SPIRIT XX"

Cat Power's Facebook page is now - rather predictably - the subject of numerous arguments for and against the decision from fans.

Cat Power is expected to release a new album later this year. Check out recent cut 'King Rides By' below...
