Cat Power's "Jukebox" Preview

Cat Power's backing band- the immortal Dirty Delta Blues Band – take centre stage with the release of Power's new “Jukebox” on January 21st. The album will still feature Chan Marshall's distinctive husky tones though, and the Southern star has also written two tracks for the album, but this release marks the first with her new backing band.

“Jukebox” is primarily a vehicle for covers rendered in the unique style of Cat power and the Dirty Delta Blues Band, and stretches from country classics by Hank Williams to Liza Minelli's theme from “New York, New York”.

Ahead of “Jukebox” Power will be releasing “Song To Bobby” - a tribute to Bob Dylan from the album – as an iTunes-only download. This song will become available from today (November 13th), and gives a good idea of what to expect from the album. In other words, her usual brilliance.
