Norwegian group return
History making Norwegian electro poppers Casiokids are set to return to the UK, with a host of dates being confirmed ahead of their new single.
There's not much new ground to be broken in British music. From Billy Fury onwards, the nation has led the way with weird and wonderful pop acts. Yet Casiokids have found a new niche, releasing the first single in the UK to be sung entirely in Norwegian.
The snappily titled double A-side 'Grønt lys is alle ledd/Togens hule' came out last year through Moshi Moshi's always impressive Singles Club. Going to show that good music can cross any boundary, Casiokids' joyful electro pop skipped its way into the heart of countless music fans who had no idea what they were singing about.
The band made their first excursions to the UK earlier this year, playing a number of dates including an impressive Clash Club performance. Blending skipping afrobeat rhythms to skittering synth riffs, Casiokids craft something that is quite unique yet utterly pop.

New single 'Finn Bikkjen/Gomur Mamma' is a case in point. Again released under the Moshi Moshi banner, the single blends dreamy vocals with bouncy percussion that sounds like Hot Chip after a few too many Sunny D's.
Casiokids have a busy summer planned. Doves attempted to book the group for their forthcoming tour but the Scandinavian bunch were forced to turn them down as they are already booked for Glastonbury, Bestival and Oxegen as well as their own headline tour.
Following in the footsteps of Kate Nash, Friendly Fires and Lykkie Li, Casiokids sweet pop could well make them the latest graduate from the Moshi Moshi house of hits.
