Songs "that could maybe help someone to believe in themselves..."
Rival Dealer

Burial has offered a brief quote about the themes behind his new 'Rival Dealer' EP.

Burial's every step seems to inspire countless bursts of critical praise. Returning with lengthy EP 'Rival Dealer' the producer introduced new sounds, new ideas and new possibilities.

Lengthy electronic meditations, the final track contains a speech by transgender filmmaker Lana Wachowski - including the lines "it’s about sexuality, about showing someone who you really are" and "you’re not alone".

6Music present Mary Anne Hobbs was granted a short quote from Burial, who expanded on these themes and illuminated what role he felt 'Rival Dealer' played.

"I put my heart into the new EP, I hope someone likes it. I wanted the tunes to be anti-bullying tunes that could maybe help someone to believe in themselves, to not be afraid, and to not give up, and to know that someone out there cares and is looking out for them. So it’s like an angel’s spell to protect them against the unkind people, the dark times, and the self-doubt." (via Pigeons and Planes)
