The Boss hits Austin

Bruce Springsteen has given an hour long keynote speech covering his career to date at SXSW.

If Bruce Springsteen fancied getting into politics, The Boss would do OK. Throwing himself into Barack Obama's (successful!) Presidential campaign, the singer demonstrated that he had the stamina to last the pace.

Now the legendary songwriter has delivered a powerful speech at SXSW. Each year the Austin event invites a figure to deliver a keynote address, with Bruce Springsteen stepping in to regale the 2012 audience.

Packed with advice for young musicians, Bruce Springsteen was on typically empowering form. A quick highlight: "Don't worry. Worry your ass off. Have iron clad confidence. But doubt! It keeps you awake and alert. Believe you are the baddest ass in town and you suck. It keeps you honest".

"Be able to keep two completely contradictory ideas alive and well in your heart and head at all times. If it does not drive you crazy it will make you strong. Stay hard, stay hungry and stay alive."

Thankfully, the entire speech has been uploaded to YouTube in HD - which you can watch below (via The Guardian)
