British Sea Power have entered the new year all guns blazing, with their new soundtrack for the film ‘Man Of Aran’ set to be released soon.
British Sea Power crafted one of the standout British albums of 2008, releasing ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ to widespread acclaim. A brilliant live act, their shows use flora, a dancing bear and pilot masks to great affect. Don’t ask – just go!
The band were asked to supply the soundtrack to a re-release of the film ‘Man Of Aran’. Originally made in 1934, this pseudo-documentary will be released on DVD later this year. The soundtrack features mostly new material alongside instrumental versions of ‘True Adventures’, ‘The Great Skua’ and ‘North Hanging Rock’. The film also uses the Jeff Alexander song Come Wander With Me, as sung by the actress Bonnie Beecher in a 1964 episode of The Twilight Zone. As you do.
British Sea Power will perform the soundtrack in full at an upcoming gig at the BFI, London. Before then, the group will play the following dates:
February
14 Liverpool O2 Academy
15 Derby Rockhouse
