Brian Jonestown Massacre Return

New album streaming online

American psychedelic mavericks The Brian Jonestown Massacre have begun streaming their new album 'Who Killed Sgt Pepper?'.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre are one of America's great underground rock acts. Hailing from San Francisco the group recall the city's psychedelic past without every seeking to reproduce some from years gone by.

Led by Anton Newcombe the band have reached a level of semi-fame thanks in part due to their illustrious former members. A close partnership with The Dandy Warhols saw the two groups exchange members, while former musicians have gone on to find success in Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Warlocks.

However perhaps the group's most infamous moment was their appearance in the documentary 'DiG!'. Hugely acclaimed, the film followed a growing feud between Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols.

Partly a loving tribute, the film also bordered on farce as Anton Newcombe & Co. lurched from self-inflicted disaster to self-inflicted disaster.

The band released an album last year which returned to their shoegazing roots. 'My Bloody Underground' was a homage to Ride, Swervedriver and of course My Bloody Valentine but with the studio walls dripping in hallucinogenic nothing is straight forward.

Returning with their new album 'Who Killed Sgt. Pepper?' Brian Jonestown Massacre have begun streaming tracks from the release on YouTube. The material has been coupled with a collection of bizarre videos including a compilation of footage from riots.

Brian Jonestown Massacre are set to release their new album 'Who Killed Sgt Pepper?' on January 1st.
