Brandon Flowers Solo Album Plans

Killers singer prepares new material

The Killers singer Brandon Flowers has revealed more details about his debut solo album ‘Flamingo’.

The Killers went on hiatus last year, after an exhausting eighteen month tour. For singer Brandon Flowers, however, the break wasn’t an excuse to slow down merely a way to kickstart new material.

Returning to The Killers recording studio Battle Born, the frontman began sketching out new material. Brandon Flowers hooked up with an array of guests to bring the project together, including some revered producers.

Daniel Lanois helped out on production duties, fresh from a stint with Bob Dylan. Meanwhile Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen producer Brendan O’Brien stopped by, with both engineers adding a sonic flair to the album.

Written entirely by Brandon Flowers, forthcoming album ‘Flamingo’ features guest appearances from Jenny Lewis, who contributes backing vocals to two of the album’s ten tracks.

Bound together by Stuart Price, the resulting album is quite different from The Killers yet retains Flowers’ distinctive voice. The frontman has crafted an epic work, which takes on board an array of influences.

On new single ‘Crossfire’ the frontman sounds like Roy Orbison, with a luminous falsetto livening up the track. Using a gospel choir at one point, the track ‘Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas’ undercuts the desert dream.

However fans shouldn’t expect a complete reinvention – ‘Jilted Lovers And Broken Hearts’ is an upbeat stadium rocker, the rightful heir to the throne of epic single ‘Human’.

Brandon Flowers is due to release ‘Flamingo’ on September 6th. The singer is due to arrange tour dates later this year.
