Artist Selects Best Tracks

Legendary UK solo artist David Bowie has announced that he will release a hand-picked compilation of his own tracks on October 14th.
Originally a free giveaway with the Mail On Sunday newspaper, "iSELECT:BOWIE" sold out in one day. Curated by the artist himself, it is a unique insight into how Bowie himself assesses his back catalogue.
Rather than a standard 'Best Of', Bowie instead prefers to say that the collection is made up of tracks that he "never seems to tire of". The CD will also contain two tracks unique to the compilation.
To explain his choices, David Bowie has written notes about the songs which reveal how the singer feels about each work and also provide a tantalizing glimpse into his working method.
One of the songs chosen is 1973's "Lady Grinning Soul", of which Bowie says "it was written for a wonderful young girl whom I've not seen for more than 30 years. When I hear this song she's still in her 20s, of course. A song will put you tantalizingly close to the past, so close that you can almost reach out and touch it. The sound of ghosts again."
