Bowie Comments On Twitter Rumours
Star discounts Coachella appearance
One of British music's truly legendary figures, David Bowie has been dogged by rumour recently.
An account on the social networking site Twitter claimed to be written by David Bowie, and sparked numerous online based rumours. According to the site, Bowie was working in Berlin on new material, with Berlin being the scene of some of his greatest triumphs.
There has also been much speculation over a possible live return, with talk of reviving Ziggy Stardust for Coachella.
David Bowie has taken the unusual step of issuing a statement to deny these rumours.
"The story goes that David Bowie was in talks to perform his Ziggy Stardust album at the festival this year, the rumour really took hold and the 'news' was reported online around the globe and in the English press."
"I'm sure the majority of you saw this tale for what it was anyway: poppycock!"
The statement finishes by saying "while we're about it, David Bowie does not have a Twitter account."
So that's that. Bowie wouldn't be able to use the original Ziggy Stardust kit anyway, since the formative Sex Pistols stole it from his final show at the Hammersmith Odeon.
