Blur Hyde Park Support

Vampire Weekend, Foals and more

Returning Britpop legends Blur have revealed who will be supporting them at their upcoming Hyde Park reformations shows this summer.

Blur virtually defined British guitar music during the 90s. Baggy also rans, the band pieced together a new image from Mod and Skinhead subcultures and joined it with a distinctly British form of songwriting.

Crafting the template for the Britpop movement, Blue helped changed the shape of British pop music before tiring of their ‘Little Englander’ followers. The band then swung round, embracing American alternative rock with 1997’s self-titled album before shuddering to a halt in 2003.

Guitarist Graham Coxon left the group shortly before they went on hiatus, and there have been question marks over his relationship with Damon Albarn ever since. However the two seem to have patched things up, with Blur set to play a series of re-union shows this summer.

The band have arranged very different support bills for each show, making each one a very different experience. With a gold encrusted back catalogue, these could well be the live event of the summer.

Blur have revealed to NME that Vampire Weekend and Foals will be among the groups who support them at their upcoming Hyde Park shows. Joining these indie acts are African pairing Amadou & Mariam as well as American group Deerhoof.
