Blood Red Shoes Return

Two piece prepare new album

Returning two piece Brighton group Blood Red Shoes have spoken about their upcoming album.

Formed by Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter, Blood Red Shoes began as a one off informal jam. Tired of the rigours of life on the road the two musicians decided to strip back their music and just have fun.

As is always the case, the simple act of having fun led Blood Red Shoes to begin writing. And writing. And writing.

Soon the duo had an album's worth of tracks, with their live shows becoming statements of intent. A series of early, limited edition singles saw Blood Red Shoes attract a cult following, being invited on tour with Biffy Clyro, Lightning Bolt and more.

Debut album 'Box Of Secrets' was a surprise success, almost denting the Top 40. Spawning the anthemic single 'You Bring Me Down' the record won critical acclaim, and saw Blood Red Shoes tour widely.

Since then the duo have travelled around the world, before returning to Brighton to work on new material. Blood Red Shoes began working on new songs last year, and are now preparing to release their second album.

'Fire Like This' is set to be released on March 1st, with Blood Red Shoes previewing a track on their official website. 'Colours Fade' is currently available as a free download, click HERE for details!

Speaking to the NME singer Laura Mary-Carter revealed that the new material is quite straight forward. "The vocals are a bit more pop," she said "but the music is actually heavier."

Blood Red Shoes are due to release their new album 'Fire Like This' on March 1st.
