Bloc Party For Twitter Festival

Online event announced

A new festival is set to be organised by social networking site Twitter - and it will take place entirely online.

Twitter has been a sensational success, with musicians amongst the early adopters of the internet phenomenon. David Bowie has already been the victim of a fake page, but many acts have taken to the site with Lily Allen amongst those who use it to speak to fans.

The new event will be called 'Twestival' and will ask users for a donation which will be given to Charity:Water - which aims to give safe drinking water to those in developing countries.

Amongst the acts confirmed for Twestival are Bloc Party, Mystery Jets and The Rakes, who have all donated new music to the project.

The event will also have a physical side, with various Twestivals set to take place across the globe which will highlight the concerns of Charity:Water.

Songs will be available at Twestival.fm between today (February 5th) and February 19th.
