Bloc Party Spark Fears Over Future

At spectacular Reading performance

British indie giants Bloc Party have sparked fears over their future with singer Kele Okereke making a cryptic statement at Reading festival.

Bloc Party have had a busy old year. After releasing their album 'Intimacy' the band took off around the world, playing a vast number of tour dates. Releasing a number of new tracks, the group then handed their latest album over to a number of producers.

Released as 'Intimacy - Remixed' this new insight into the band has taken fans by surprise. A vast array of producers have re-jigged the group's material, bringing out a dance edge to their material.

Taking to the stage at Reading festival Bloc Party were greeted with a huge cheer from the assembled crowd. The group have now played the event three years in a row, but singer Kele Okereke warned the audience not to expect them to return next year.

"We won't be back here next year... or for the next few years after that," he said. The singer had earlier recounted the story of how he first met guitarist Russell Lissack. The pair were attending Reading festival, and decided to form a band.

"I decided to ask this guy here (Lissack) if he would play guitar for me... and the rest is history," Okereke said. The singer then went on to dedicate 'This Modern Love' to aspiring musicians in the audience.

The Bloc Party singer also demanded that Reading Festival security get him a drink. "I can't even get a fucking drink!" he laughed. After being presented with a drink by a roadie he gave the crowd a thumbs up, before saying "tonight I am gonna get fucked up!"

Towards the end of the show Bloc Party paved the way for headliners Radiohead by discussing the group's pre-gig preparations. "I saw Thom Yorke doing his chin-ups backstage, getting ready for the show," drummer Matt Tong joked, sparking cheers from the crowds.

Bloc Party played:

'So Here We Are'
'Hunting For Witches'
'Positive Tension'
'Talons'
'Song For Clay (Disappear Here)'
'Banquet'
'Two More Years'
'One More Chance'
'Mercury'
'This Modern Love'
'The Prayer'
'Flux'
'Helicopter'
