Bloc Party Solo Project Rumours

Indie giants Bloc Party could be set to indulge in some solo projects, with drummer Matt Tong claiming he would like to make music outside of the group.

Bloc Party have spent the best part of eighteen months surprising and infuriating their fans. Releasing the experimental album 'Intimacy' with no warning the band then played a series of dates showcasing the daring new material.

Taking on board electronic influences 'Intimacy' was then followed by a daring new project. Collecting together some of the finest dance producers on the planet 'Intimacy Remixed' was an inspiring take on Bloc Party's music.

Currently touring throughout the UK on the Bloctober tour, drummer Matt Tong has fuelled rumours that Bloc Party will indulge in solo projects when they take a break at the end of the tour.

"I definitely don't think this will be the last you'll hear of the people who make up Bloc Party," he re-assured fans.

"Kele is an insatiable workaholic and creating is something he is so connected to, so you'll definitely hear from him again, along with Russell (Lissack) and Gordon (Moakes). As for me, I don't know, I wouldn't mind trying something else for a while."

Speaking to the BBC Subculture program the drummer claimed that taking a break is set to revitalise the band. "We definitely need to have a break and gain a bit of perspective on life outside of the band," he said.

"Hopefully if we do reconvene at some point in the future we'll be refreshed and have so many ideas to bring to what it is we do."

Bloc Party's current UK tour is set to continue throughout October.
