Punk trio mourn for friend

California punk trio Blink 182 have cancelled a New York show after learning of the death of close friend DJ AM.
Blink 182 returned earlier this year, announcing their re-union in some style - during the prestigious Grammy awards ceremony. The trio confirmed that they would tour together, with a new album in the pipeline.
Having gone on hiatus back in 2004 the trio went their separate ways, working on a variety of musical projects. Drummer Travis Barker formed a new group with Adam Goldstein, titled TRVSDJ-AM.
After a show in 2008 the pair left to fly back to their new gig, but the plane crashed. Four people on board were killed, while Barker and Goldstein suffered extensive burns.
Recovering after months of treatment DJ AM returned to the decks, but he has now tragically died in New York, reports BBC News. Goldstein was found dead in his apartment on Friday (August 28th) leading to Blink 182 cancelling their upcoming show.
In a statement on their website Blink 182 claimed that "the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein" had forced them to cancel. The trio took the time to thank fans "during this tough time".
The show in New York was part of an ongoing tour. The band confirmed that they would be back, with performances from the likes of Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French still due to take place.
Blink 182 will resume their tour on Wednesday night (September 2nd) in Cleveland, Ohio.
