Black Lips Evade The Law
Band bust out of jail for UK gigs
Turbulent Atlantan flower-punks The Black Lips have had to break bassist Jared Swilley out of jail in order to continue the UK tour dates, it has been revealed.
The four-piece garage loons are no stranger to scuffles with the law, just recently the band were forced to flee India after the Tamil Nadu Police warned the band they would be arrested for inciting trouble with their riotous live shows.
Famed for crowdsurfing, stripping and regularly spitting on stage, Black Lips have now incurred the wrath of the UK authorities for their debauched on-the-road antics.
Speaking to The Fly last night, frontman Cole Alexander revealed their performance on the current Levi’s Ones To Watch Tour in Brighton was last night put in jeopardy after the band's management had to bust their wayward bassist out of jail. Cole added of the fiasco:
“Jared was thrown in jail last night, and we had to get him out asap. He supposedly got caught doing something on CCTV (AKA Big Brother) was watching him – completely ludicrous. The cops said he couldn’t get out til 7am and that he damaged a car but that’s bullshit..”
Having released their new album '200 Million Thousand' recently (Clash Music review HERE), the band are set to continue their tour tonight in Nottingham - lets hope they keep their noses clean.
