Akron, Ohio filthy blues merchants The Black Keys are set to collaborate with legendary boogie kings ZZ Top in recording sessions this weekend it has emerged.

In what looks on paper to be a dream pairing, The Black Keys and ZZ Top are set to team up. Legendary Texas boogie kings ZZ Top are currently recording their new album with Rick Rubin, a man who built an unassailable reputation as a producer.

American magazine Billboard reports news of the collaboration, claiming that ZZ Top mainman Billy F Gibbons recruited the two piece himself. ""Billy came to our show in Columbus, Ohio, and played us some new songs," said Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach. "But this will be the first time we've gotten together in a musical way."

"There are so many people who love them and what they did."

Including us! ZZ Top began as a filthy boogie band, earning a massive following due to their electric live show. Their incorporation of synthesizers into their sound on the massively successful 'Eliminator' album changed the group's sound forever. The new Rick Rubin produced album is thought to be a return to the band's roots.
