First name on the bill...

Bjork is the first name to be confirmed for next year's instalment of Polish festival Open'er.

Fusing technology with nature, Bjork's 'Biophilia' project has proved that new plenty of new ground remains to be broken. A vastly ambitious mixture of live performance and studio trickery, 'Biophilia' was followed by an epic performance at Bestival.

The singer's first festival show in some time, the set was a vivid mixture of new material and classic songs. Now Bjork has confirmed her first live appearance of 2012 will take place at Poland's Open'er festival.

Fast emerging as one of the main events on the European festival calendar, Open'er has earned a reputation for securing exclusive performances. However even by their standards, grabbing Bjork is quite a coup...

The Icelandic singer is the first name on the bill for Open'er 2012, with Bjork set to make a rare appearance on Polish soil.

Miko?aj Zió?kowski, Alter Art said: “We are starting a new decade of Open’er Festival and we have started it just as we dreamed it – with a performance from an artist that is exquisite, unique and truly one-of-a-kind. An artist that uncloses and transgresses searches and inspires. An artist that is charismatic and daring."

"We are proud and honoured to be the first to announce an artist that is going to be a major feature of the 2012 global festival scene. An artist, a revolutionnaire – Björk to headline Open’er 2012!”

Intriguingly, Open'er continually refer to themselves as 'the first' to announce a performance from Bjork next summer. Could the Icelandic singer be set to play a number of summer festivals? Time will tell...

Open'er early bird tickets are on sale for Klub Alter Art members until November 30th.

Open'er runs between July 4th - 7th.
