Bilbao BBK Finalises Bill

One of Europe's hottest festivals is preparing to launch, with Bilbao BBK Live finalising its bill.

Set in sunny Spain, Bilbao BBK Live is a world away from the mud and guts of British events. Gone is the variable weather, and in comes constant sunshine. Sure, you might get sun burnt but what would you prefer? Trench foot?

With a gloriously beautiful location, Bilbao BBK Live crowds 40,000 people into a natural amphitheatre. The three day festival takes place just a stone's throw from the coast, on the outskirts of Bilbao.

In the past, headliners at the event have included such legendary talents as Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, The Police and thrash overlords Metallica. This year is no exception, with event due to be headlined by Depeche Mode.

One of the biggest names on the planet, the electro rock legends were recently rocked by an illness. Singer Dave Gahan was forced to go to hospital, with the band having to cancel a number of European tour dates.

However Gahan has made a full recovery with Depeche Mode going straight back onto the road. The band are worthy headliners, and are set to be joined by Jane's Addiction and dance rock pioneers Primal Scream.

Bobby Gillespie & Co. have been getting the party started for over two decades now, with countless classic albums behind them. Mercury award winning set 'Screamadelica' gets our pick, but there's plenty more to choose from.

The organisers have just closed the bill, with a number of last minute additions. Liverpool post-punk legends Echo And The Bunnymen are set to drop by, alongside Asian Dub Foundation, Baddies and newcomers The Phenomenal Handclap Band.
