Bring the umbrella...

The gates of Bestival are swinging open with fans being greeted by cloud overhead.

Just remember... the weather reports have been wrong before. Earlier this summer, ClashMusic stuck its neck on the line and predicted heavy rain for RockNess - a festival which opened to glorious sunshine.

Sure, it all went a little damp in the end but the point remains: mistakes happen, and rain is not inevitable. Something worth keeping in your mind when you read the following Bestival weather report.

Opening today (September 8th) Bestival is set to experience extremely cloudy weather. The site will be wrapped by high winds, although temperatures should creep up to 18 degrees Celsius.

Tomorrow (September 9th) the Isle of Wight site is set to suffer from bouts of rainfall. The cloud cover will break, with Bestival due to experience some damp conditions and lingering high winds.

The weather will continue in much the same vein for the remainder of the weekend. According to the BBC, Bestival will experience extended periods of rainfall for the duration of the event.

Sadly, it seems as if the weather will worsen as the weekend progresses with Bestival saving the worst for last. With fans gathered for a headline set, there could well be a torrential downpour with the BBC weather service predicting heavy rain.

However, it's not all doom and gloom. Weather reports are notoriously unreliable, but one thing remains certain: the line up. Bestival has assembled a stunning bill with headline performances due to come from The Cure and Bjork.

Bagging a number of exclusives, Bestival has also coaxed performances from Odd Future, Public Enemy, Primal Scream and more.

Bestival runs between September 8th - 11th.
