Ben Sherman Plectrum Auction

Sonic Youth, Razorlight contribute

A new auction prepared by Nordoff Robbins and Ben Sherman could see you claim a box full of plectrums signed by some of the best groups around.

A plectrum - the goblet of rock, more commonly hoisted high above the head of an axe slinger. Sure, some folk prefer to use their fingers but for bone crushing power chords or liquid lead there's only one option.

A new project sees music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins join forces with clothing giant Ben Sherman. The two have tracked down some of the biggest bands around for an extremely unusual auction.

Guitar icons have signed a special plectrum which has been placed into a box. Over a three week period three boxes will be auctioned, containing one off memorabilia from some of your favourite bands.

The first auction takes place on October 11th, and sees the likes of The Raveonettes, Dirty Pretty Things, Gallows, Futureheads, Sonic Youth and more contribute.

On October 18th a second box will go up for sale with Midnight Juggernauts, The Subways, Hot Chip, Biffy Clyro and more.

Finally, the third box will go on sale from October 25th and will contain plectrums from Passion Pit, Architecture In Helsinki, Franz Ferdinand, Radiohead and The Cribs.

Phew! Titled 'Very Important Plectrums' the new auction will be open to everyone with the highest bidder winning the box. For more information, and the chance to view the plectrums, just visit the VIP website HERE!

The auction launched last night with a very special event in London. Taking place in the Gibson Studio a host of bands gathered to celebrate the project.

Fast rising newcomers O. Children performed alongside indie titans Magistrates. Fans were kept dancing until the wee small hours by former Dirty Pretty Things bass player Didz Hammond.

The first Ben Sherman / Nordoff Robbins auction begins on October 11th.
