Tough times for Ben Gibbard. The Death Cab For Cutie lynch-pin recently split up with a certain famous actress, forcing him to deal with the emotional trauma in public.

So new album 'Former Lives' comes with a fair amount of baggage. Set to gain a European release on November 12th, Ben Gibbard describes the album thus:

“These songs span eight years, three relationships, living in two different places, drinking then not drinking... They’re a side story, not a new chapter.”

New cut 'Teardrop Windows' is streaming online now. Seemingly inspired by seminal 70s power pop outfit Big Star, you can listen to the track below:
