Belle And Sebastian For Latitude
Host of new acts added to bill
Glasgow indie troupe Belle And Sebastian are to make their British live return at Latitude this summer.
Held on the South Coast, Latitude has evolved into a hugely respected festival. Last year’s line up saw Thom Yorke added at the last minute, resulting in one of the summer’s most memorable performances.
This time round, Belle And Sebastian have been recruited to the south coast event. The Glasgow based indie troupe last released an album in 2006, with singer Stuart Murdoch working on a solo project.
In an email to fans last week Belle And Sebastian announced that they had begun work on a new album. Planning to record new material in Los Angeles later this year, the band also announced a handful of live appearances.
Now the Glasgow based band are set to play a set at this summer’s Latitude festival. Taking place between July 16th – 18th the event already boasts performances from Florence And The Machine and Vampire Weekend.
BRIT Award winners Florence And The Machine are due to headline the festival, marking the band’s first festival headline slot. The band will be joined by Empire Of The Sun, The Maccabees and more.
Joining the bill are London group The xx, whose debut album reached far and wide throughout 2009. Remixed to high heaven, the band’s mixture of sighed vocals and processed beats caught the imagination.
Also set to play at the South Coast event are Brooklyn alt folk types Grizzly Bear, French chanteuse Charlotte Gainsbourg and bowl-cut garage troupe The Horrors.
Latitude takes place between July 16th – 18th.
