Bella Union Announce 20th Anniversary Events

Series of live shows planned...

Bella Union have announced plans for a series of live events to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

The label was founded in 1997, and quickly stamped out an identity based on lovingly nurturing new talent.

The following two decades have seen their ups and downs, but with a roster that includes Father John Misty, John Grant, Mercury Rev, Ezra Furman and many more, the Bella Union landscape has rarely looked so rosy.

Turning 20 with nary a grey hair in sight, Bella Union have announced a number of live shows featuring some artists from their roster.

As if that wasn't enough, the label have also pieced together a package tour featuring recent signings Pavo Pavo, Mammút and Will Stratton.

Label founder Simon Raymonde explains:

“I have no idea how we got here but somehow we made it through some of the most turbulent changes the industry have ever seen.”

“Much has been written about our big breakthrough success with Fleet Foxes in 2008 and yet we hope this year also helps people reflect on the long-term relationships we have with artists like John Grant who we have been working with since 1998, almost the full 20 years, as we have with Dirty Three, and artists like Beach House who have been with Bella Union for all seven albums since they began in 2006, Josh Tillman/Father John Misty, Midlake, Laura Veirs, Explosions In The Sky etc, all with us for over 10 years.”

From the early days of having no clue about running a label to now, when I have no clue about the world we find ourselves in, it seems rather appropriate in 2017 to have some genuinely special moments to celebrate with friends and family. It is for others to judge our output, but for us, a small band of brothers and sisters who care passionately about what we do, the music we want to bring out into the world and the people behind that music, THIS is our life and we are grateful for it.”
