Genre hopping songsmith Beck is set to issue "Modern Guilt", his first album on new home XL Recordings, on July 7th it has been announced.

Emerging from the US underground via a series of cult home made tapes, Beck signed with Geffen in the early 90s and issued seven albums for the label that moved from lo-fi acoustic to white boy funk styles. His contract with the majors now up, Beck has decided to move to XL Recordings - home of close friend Jack White's group The White Stripes.

"Modern Guilt" is due to be released on July 7th and follows a fertile spell for the artist. "Guero" and "The Information" were released in 2005 and 2006 successively, and the new album shows that the Generation X icon sees no reason in slacking just yet. Produced by fellow workaholic Danger Mouse, the album will be preceded by the single "Chemtrails" which will be released on June 23rd.

Beck will released "Modern Guilt" on July 7th. The lo-fi funkateer is set to play the following UK dates:

July 1st - Southampton, Guildhall
July 2nd - Manchester, Apollo
July 4th - Wireless Festival
