Beatles Re-Issue Crowds
Fans rush to claim their copy
Fans of The Beatles have been up with the lark today (September 8th) to claim their copy of the band's new re-issues.
It's like Beatlemania all over again. At their height the Fab Four were capable of sending crowds in hysterics, with the legendary pop group being chased from venue to venue by adoring fans.
Selling millions upon millions of albums The Beatles continually pushed themselves to ever higher artistic achievements. Breaking new ground, the band released a concept album and a double album amid a myriad of left field incursions.
Since their split in 1970 the band have, if anything, become even bigger. Enshrined as the Fab Four The Beatles have not had the decline into irrelevancy that has dogged contemporaries such as The Rolling Stones and The Who.
Announced earlier this year, a full re-issue project is set to restore the band's studio albums to their former glory. Removing the odd bum note and cleaning up the sound, the Abbey Road led project has left The Beatles sounding better than ever.
The entire set of re-issues will be released today (September 8th) and fans queued around the corner at HMV's flagship store on Oxford Street. The scene has been repeated across the country with a new generation falling in love with the band's music.
Of course, Clash will be there every step of the way. In our new issues we've tracked down Yoko Ono and Sir Paul McCartney to talk about the band's legacy, with exclusive full transcriptions from those interviews hitting ClashMusic soon!
