Beatles Gig Footage At Auction

Kansas Film Fetches Thousands

A roll of rare footage featuring musical legends The Beatles performing in Kansas has gone under the hammer at an auction in Reading, and fetched more than £4,000.

The band played in Kansas in 1964, and fan Drew Dimmel claimed to have filmed a short portion of the gig. However, it has recently emerged that a journalist filmed the event on his behalf, after Dimmel was denied permission.

The film was discovered in Dimmel's parent's house recently after the man returned to clear out his parent;s estate. It is thought to have remained untouched for nearly 40 years.

Dimmel claimed that "it is the one and only motion picture in existence of the one and only concert the Beatles would ever perform in Kansas City."

The film is currently on display at the Beatles story until November.
