Beatles Catalogue Row
Fab Four Not Available On iTunes
The Beatles back catalogue is the subject of a row between EMI and Apple Corps, with the two labels unable to decide on a strategy to bring the material to iTunes.
The legendary group began their career on EMI, but ended it own their own label Apple. As such, their back catalogue is split between two parties with negotiations apparently "stalled" between the two.
In a news conference, singer Sir Paul McCartney said that despite negotiations being ongoing, no decision had been made. "When it's something as big as The Beatles, it's heavy negotiations," he said.
"It's stalled – there are a couple of sticking points between EMI and The Beatles. No change there then!"
The Beatles music is unavailable on iTunes, but will be released next year as part of the 'Rock Band' computer game. The Fab Four aren't the only group not available on the download service - both AC/DC and Lynard Skynard can't be found there either.
McCartney was promoting his project The Fireman's new album 'Electric Arguments', available now.
