Beastie Boys have revealed that they are working on a new video with Spike Jonze.

The rise of the internet has given the music video a shot in the arm, giving the format a new arena. Bands like OK Go thrive on the expanded audience, gaining millions of views for their latest zany adventures.

So the news that Beastie Boys and Spike Jonze are to team up for a new video is both a retro thrill and a hint at future glories.

In a short blog message, Mike D revealed that the rap trio are set to work with the director on a fresh shoot. In a neat twist, Beastie Boys will be represented by specially designed action figures in the video.

Spike Jonze has been busy of late. The renowned director recently returned to music to work with Arcade Fire on their acclaimed short film 'Scenes From The Suburbs' based on the band's recent album.

Teaming up with Beastie Boys, the rap trio are on rejuvenated form after finally being able to release 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt.2'. With MCA now well down the road to recovery after a cancer scare, it seems that inventive videos are now the order of the day...
