Beastie Boys Remix Norah Jones
Santigold, Beck also get involved
American songwriter Norah Jones has had her forthcoming single remixed by The Beastie Boys.
Norah Jones comes from a revered musical lineage. The daughter of legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar, her unique take on the legacy of jazz and the melodic effect of pop has turned her into a household name.
Returning this year with her new album 'The Fall' the singer is set to get a radical re-working as part of a new project. The jazz singer will have her material remixed by Santigold, Beck and The Beastie Boys are part of a new released.
Premiering online this week (November 30th) Norah Jones has given the producers three different tracks from her new album to get to grips with. Santigold has reworked 'Chasing Pirates' alongside producer Snotty.
Beck, meanwhile, has chosen to re-work the same track as part of his ongoing remix collective Droogs. The maverick songwriter has given 'Chasing Pirates' a surreal new spin, showing a different side to Norah Jones.
Perhaps the most exciting remix, however, comes from Beastie Boys. The trio were due to release their long awaited new album 'Hot Sauce Committee' earlier this year but the record was cancelled due to a cancer scare.
Adam Yauch aka MCA is undergoing treatment for cancer, with his fellow band members Ad Rock and Mike D taking the controls for the new remix. Due to be released on vinyl on January 12th the new release is the band's first appearance in some time.
Norah Jones is set to release her new remix EP on January 12th.
