The long list for the BBC Sound Of 2011 poll have been confirmed, with some intriguing choices.
Ah the annual ‘End Of Year’ poll. A music magazine staple, it keeps those frozen fingers typing and sends fans into a flurry of debate. ‘What no – insert obscure band here – in the Top 40? I’m cancelling my subscription!’.
Amongst the more influential barometers of critical taste of the BBC Sound of 2011 poll. In previous years the poll has proved to be un-nervingly accurate, predicting high profile careers for Adele, Duffy and more.
Polling almost two hundred pundits, tastemakers include high profile radio DJs, TV presenters, journalists, bloggers and more.
Now the long list for 2011 has been confirmed. The list makes intriguing reading, with British music set to make a serious comeback. Amongst the acts on the list is James Blake, a hugely influential new producer.
Returning with his new single ‘Limit To Your Love’ the producer has stunned fans with an overwhelming vocal take. Covering a Feist track, James Blake has demonstrated that his music can reach far beyond the soundsystems.
Elsewhere, soulful singer Jamie Woon impressed with his recent single ‘Night Air’ which boasted additional production from Burial. The list moves from dance to indie and beyond, with Domino signing Anna Calvi also being named.

Other acts tipped for success include London group Yuck and Matador signings Esben & The Witch. With just a handful of material under their belt Esben & The Witch have already marked themselves out as one of Britain’s most stirring new bands.
