Basement Jaxx Talk New Album
"You wear your scars with pride"
Returning dance duo Basement Jaxx have admitted that their new album was inspired by real life experiences.
Beginning as a DJ duo, Basement Jaxx soon realised that no one knew their dancefloor as well as they did. Swiftly becoming acclaimed producers the band found almost instant success with debut album 'Remedy'.
Spawning several massive chart hits, the band went on to become one of the biggest names in British dance music. With Basement Jaxx celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album the band have chosen to return with new material.
Debuted across the summer the new material was released as 'Scars'. Basement Jaxx played headline sets at festivals such as RockNess, proving that they can still get the crowds moving.
However beneath their pulsating electro sounds lies a broken heart with the duo revealing that the title of 'Scars' can be taken literally.
Simon Ratcliffe told Australian radio station Triple J that his band mate was assaulted in London. "Felix he got mugged unfortunately, just outside his house by 8 hoodies."
"So he started to feel really uncomfortable in the area he lives, he gets mysterious knocks on his door in the middle of the night."
"He had a few relationship issues going on so he wrote a few songs sort of wondering why he kept getting persecuted by love. You know we’re older, you grow up, you get scarred, you get knocked about it a bit but you pick yourself up, you wear your scars with pride.”
'Scars' by Basement Jaxx is out now.
