Band Suffer Due To TV Suspension
Jonathan Ross Ban Affects Groups
A leading publicity expert has claimed that the three month suspension given to Jonathan Ross is likely to have a massive affect on groups promoting their music.
In a new interview with British broadsheet The Independent Stuart Bell, public relations expert for Paul McCartney and David Bowie, claimed that the suspension of Jonathan Ross would have repercussions for the music industry. "It's key – the Holy Grail for that kind of audience. If you do something like 'Later...with Jools Holland', you get the coolness and the credibility, but not always the viewing figures," he explained.
"There's no 'Parkinson' now, either, and no alternative at this time of year. And November is so important. There's the morning shows, 'GMTV', which is fine for Leona Lewis. But if you're The Killers or Razorlight, you want Jonathan Ross."
The Killers were due to appear on Friday Night... With Jonathan Ross but the show was cancelled due to the host's BBC ban.
Ross and close friend Russell Brand made obscene phone calls to actor Andrews Sachs. Brand resigned from his show on Radio 2, and Jonathan Ross was suspended for three months from the BBC.
