Despite recent cancellations

Azealia Banks is set to perform at Bestival, despite pulling a string of summer shows.

One of the most hotly tipped newcomers of 2012, Azealia Banks was all set to begin her assault on the UK this summer. However a string of cancellations saw the American artist's festival plans wiped away.

Sayeth a spokesperson: "Azealia Banks will be performing at the Radio 1 Hackney Weekender and Reading and Leeds Festivals this summer, but has unfortunately had to cancel her remaining UK festival appearances due to recording commitments. Her October UK headline tour will still go ahead as scheduled."

The dates affected included RockNess, which the Clash team were naturally extremely disappointed about. However the Scottish event has drafted in a replacement, while Azealia Banks has lined up just one more festival appearance.

The American artist will perform at Bestival, marking her return to British soil. Hitting the Isle of Wight, Azealia Banks is set to be joined by fellow outspoken newcomer Frank Ocean and - by way of contrast - M Ward.

Typifying the eclectic nature of Bestival, organiser Rob da Bank had the following to say: “With the Friday headliner coming in a few weeks I thought we'd ramp up the excitement a bit more for Besti-goers with the additions of Frank Ocean and M Ward".

"Two totally different artists from across the Atlantic, Frank is one of the most requested acts on our messageboards and he's such an incredible performer - like a young Prince! M Ward is a folk and indie legend already and we’re very excited to welcome him for the first time!”

Tickets are on sale now.

Bestival runs between September 6th - 9th.
