ATP Extends Bill
Yet more talent for Minehead
Chicago based math rock heroes Battles are amongst the new names confirmed for this December's ATP events.
All Tomorrow's Parties is set to turn ten years old this December. After a decade of producing some truly superb parties, festival organisers have a tough job on their hands topping previous bills.
However strings are being pulled, and as we speak palms are being greased. With the likes of Tortoise, Shellac, Mudhoney and more already being confirmed, Ten Years Of ATP has just added a host of new names.
Battles released 'Mirrored' in 2007, and the album has already become a hugely influential touchstone. Launching math-rock into the mainstream, Battles are anything but commercial with bizarre vocals and mind boggling time signatures.
Live, the band are a whirlwind of effects pedals and difficult to reach cymbals. Battles are currently working on new material, but are set to take time out to play Ten Years Of ATP.
Joining them on the bill are J Mascis and the Fog. As lead singer of Dinosaur Jr Mascis helped inspired the grunge movement, and the trio's reformation was one of the more unexpected musical treats of the past few years.
An acclaimed group in their own right, solo project J Mascis and the Fog are a blur of grey hair and distortion pedals. Also due to perform at Ten Years Of ATP are drone merchants Sunn O))), Apse and Alexander Tucker & Decomposed Orchestra.
Meanwhile, a matter of days before the tenth anniversary event is due to take place ATP are set to host a festival curated by reformed noise-rockers My Bloody Valentine. A huge influence on the shoegaze scene, the band have hand picked a sensational bill.
Sonic Youth will headline, with the likes of De La Soul, EPMD, Buzzcocks, Bob Mould and more due to drop by. The latest additions include The Dirty Three, with many more names due to be announced.
ATP: Nightmare Before Christmas (curated by My Bloody Valentine) is due to take place between December 4th - 6th.
Ten Years Of ATP is due to take place between December 11th - 13th.
