Atari Teenage Riot Return
Bring the ear plugs.
Legendary German noise rockers Atari Teenage Riot are to reform for a one off London show.
Atari Teenage Riot made an impact far beyond their native Germany. Launching the career of Alec Empire, the group's amalgamation of hardcore punk and techno became a furious political weapon.
At one point causing a huge riot in Berlin after playing an outside show, the band's output ranks with some of the most extreme ever recorded. A blast against the consumerism of the reformed, capitalist, German state the group's anarchist politics saw them blaze a trail for a new breed of noise rockers.
Splitting in 2000, Atari Teenage Riot's legacy has grown. The Big Pink began their career working with Alec Empire, and the German musician's aesthetics have grown in influence over the resulting decade.
Putting aside his solo career, Alec Empire is to reform Atari Teenage Riot. The German band will re-group for a special one off show in London later this year.
Taking place in Camden's Electric Ballroom on May 12th the show follows in the footsteps of a legendary show in London recorded for a stunning live album. Tickets for the show go on sale soon, with the reformed band featuring Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and Nic Endo working alongside MC CX Kidtronik.
Alongside this Atari Teenage Riot are to release new single 'Activate' on May 17th through their own label Digital Hardcore Recordings. In the meantime, the German group are to give away a free remix of classic track 'Digital Hardcore'.
