Asobi Seksu For White Lies Tour

Ethereal New Yorkers Asobi Seksu have confirmed a series of tour dates with White Lies.

The ghost of shoegazing seems to be haunting British music. At the Mercury Awards this year Glasvegas and Friendly Fires were both nominated, with neither group capable of existing with pioneers such as The Jesus And Mary Chain.

One of the year's true breakthrough acts, White Lies are deeply indebted to the swirling noise of the shoegaze scene. However the band are much more focussed, at times recalling the grandeur of Echo And The Bunnymen.

Due to see out the year with a typically cold winter tour, White Lies have confirmed some very special support slots. Hailing from New York, Asobi Seksu share similar influences but have an extremely different take on the legacy of shoegazing.

Through the course of two albums the band have carved out a reputation as being superb songwriters, using Yuki Chikudate's glacial vocals to create some spectacularly icy musical moments.

Recently the band agree to unplug their guitars for a very special recording. At the urge of One Little Indian label owner Derek Birkett the New York group became one of the last to use the famous Olympic Studios.

The London based studio closed earlier this year, but before its doors could lock for the final time Asobi Seksu ran through some gems from their back catalogue. 'Acoustic At Olympic Studios' shows another side to the band.

Later mixed by Billy Pavone (the touring bassist for Asobi Seksu) at his home studio in Brooklyn acts as a perfect introduction to the group, while also adding renewed depth to their songwriting.
