Arctic Monkeys Single Details

'Crying Lightning' first release

Record breaking, award scooping group Arctic Monkeys are due to unveil their forthcoming single 'Crying Lightning' soon.

Arctic Monkeys are simply a phenomenon. Hailing from Sheffield the band became the archetypal internet driven success. Fans flocked to their shows before their debut single had even been released, singing each word of each song.

Debut single 'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor' soared straight into the charts at number one. Setting new standards for what is capable in British indie music the band's debut album broke all records becoming the fastest selling debut ever on the British charts.

Songwriter Alex Turner was hailed as a bright new voice. His down to earth wit and tales of every day life resonated with fans, who saw Turner as someone who understood the depressing grind of daily life.

Arctic Monkeys have been silent since their Mercury nominated album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'. Since then, Alex Turner has been working on his project Last Shadow Puppets with Liverpool based songwriter Miles Kane.

The group's album 'Age Of The Understatement' was an artistic triumph, with its lavish strings and grandiose songwriting winning acclaim. Returning to the fold, Turner began work on Arctic Monkeys' new album last year.

Recorded with Josh Homme at the helm, the album has been named 'Humbug'. Little has been heard of the new material, however ClashMusic was recently granted an exclusive first play of the album.

Now fans are set to get their first glimpse of the new album. Arctic Monkeys' comeback single 'Crying Lightning' is due to be released at midnight on July 6th, and will receive its first ever play on the Zane Lowe show that night.

Physical versions of the single will be released on August 17th, a full week before the release of the parent album. 'Humbug' itself contains ten new songs, and the band have announced a pre-order deal where fans can buy the album in bundle form, with a collectible, limited edition poster, from the group's official website.

With the release of 'Humbug' on the horizon, Arctic Monkeys have confirmed details of their summer schedule. Limiting their British festival appearances to just a solitary headline slot at Reading and Leeds, the band are set to bombard the United States.

Arctic Monkeys are due to play slots at All Points West, Lollapalooza and many more. With Josh Homme having added a muscular rock sound to Arctic Monkeys, the band could be about to crack the United States.

Arctic Monkeys are set to release their new single 'Crying Lightning' July 6th.
