Arctic Monkeys Brixton Academy Show
'Humbug' to get live preview
Returning indie overlords Arctic Monkeys have revealed details of a spectacular show in London's O2 Academy Brixton.
The biggest comeback of the year is almost upon us. With their number one single '(I Bet That You Look Good) On The Dancefloor' Arctic Monkeys launched themselves into stardom, changing the British music scene in the process.
In lead singer Alex Turner the band have a mean and moody frontman, whose lyrics have often been compared to the work of playwrights such as John Osbourne. Gritty yet poetic Turner is capable of capturing everyday life in a way that is often very touching.
The band last released an album in 2007 with the hugely successful effort 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'. Since then, Alex Turner has worked on an album with his side project The Last Shadow Puppets before returning to his first love.
To record their third album Arctic Monkeys moved out to California in order to work with Josh Homme. Mastered by James Ford in New York, the band's new record is truly an international affair.
Eagerly awaited by fans, Arctic Monkeys shocked many in the music industry by making the physical copy of their new single 'Crying Lightning' available exclusively through the charity Oxfam.
A stunning return, it heralds an album that sees Arctic Monkeys break new ground. The band are much more grandiose and melodic, yet 'Humbug' retains the ineffable magic that caused the nation to fall in love with them in the first instance.
The new show will feature Arctic Monkeys showcasing their new album. Live dates are thin on the ground, with tickets for the O2 Academy Brixton show being allocated to members of the band's mailing list, who have until midnight (BST) tomorrow (August 19th) to register.
Successful applicants will be notified the following day (August 20th). Tickets will be limited to two per person.
The show comes just days before Arctic Monkeys headline Reading and Leeds, due to take place between August 28th - 30th.
Arctic Monkeys are set to play the following date:
