Arcade Fire To Release Album In 2010 - Reports

Canadian group prepare new album

Reports are emerging from the United States that Canadian group Arcade Fire are set to release their new album next year.

As the decade draws to a close many publications are arguing the merits of the period's finest album. While the debate will rage on for another ten years, there can be no doubting the impact of Arcade Fire on the evolution of rock music.

Emerging from Canada at a time when the nation was better known for producing acts such as Celine Dion, Arcade Fire's breathtaking ambition and stunning emotional impact made them instant icons.

Debut album 'Funeral' is a stunning blend of emotions, all shot through with a near orchestral vision. Named as ClashMusic's finest album of the past five years it has influenced countless acts around the world.

Follow up 'Neon Bible' was released in 2006 but since then the band have been inactive. Solo projects have followed with Arcade Fire reportedly entering the studio last year to begin work on new material.

Together with producer Markus Dravs and arranger Owen Pallett, the band are now set to be close to finishing the album.

American magazine Billboard is now reporting that Arcade Fire are set to release their new album next year. May is cited as a possible release date, with a single set to be issued before the album.

In addition to this Arcade Fire are apparently planning to launch a series of live shows are the release, with the band likely to headline several festivals in the United States and beyond next summer.

Arcade Fire have not commented on the reports.
