Animal Collective For Green Man
Roky Erickson also confirmed
This year's instalment of Welsh wizardry at Green Man has been boosted by the addition of celebrated Americans Animal Collective.
Green Man has grown from a small collection of friends, playing shows for fun into one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the summer. Held in a Welsh valley, Green Man has done the logical thing and banished any threat of rain by using genuine Druids fresh from Stonehenge.
Already confirmed for this year's event are Americana legends Wilco, Bon Iver and acclaimed indie stars British Sea Power. Joining them will be a band hailed as one of the finest acts of their generation, Animal Collective.
Released earlier this year 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' has hit music fans like a bullet between the eyes. One of the most talked about releases for some time, it is already being heralded as a landmark release for American music.
The band are a renowned live act, and are a sure fire hit for the festival's opening night. The Brecon Beacons event will also be headlined by Super Furry Animals, whose psychedelic pop has resulted in one of British music's finest back catalogues.
In a spectacular coup the organisers have also managed to secure a performance from Roky Erickson, the legendary frontman with 13th Floor Elevators. Jailed for marijuana possession, Erickson endured electric shock treatment and has suffered from mental health problems ever since.
A rare British appearance, Erickson will be joined by other new additions such as DJhistory and Idjut Boys.
Green Man takes place between August 21st - 23rd.
