Animal Collective Film To Be Released
'ODDSAC' comes to DVD
Baltimore's other-worldly indie rock collective Animal Collective are to bring their 'ODDSAC' film to DVD.
Animal Collective can do no wrong. Releasing 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' in 2009 the band laid down a benchmark for rock music, infusing an increasingly redundant genre with daring new ideas.
The last great album of the Noughties or the first great album of the new decade? Since the release of 'Merriweather...' the band have been in constant demand, recently curating an art show at New York's prestigious Guggenheim Museum.
Singer Panda Bear has been working on a new solo album, with other members focussing on their own side projects. Now Animal Collective have re-united to work on the release of a new film.
'ODDSAC' was rumoured for years, with fans speculating that the film would contain some unreleased music. Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, 'ODDSAC' is less of a narrative work and more a visual document.
Bewildering, startling and frequently confusing 'ODDSAC' is an unmistakable experience. A collaboration between the band and director Danny Perez the film is now due to be released on DVD.
Announcing a number of additional screenings, Animal Collective also confirmed that 'ODDSAC' is set to come to home screens. The film will be released on DVD from June 29th, with the movie also available on iTunes.
Meanwhile, the 'ODDSAC' Twitter page has claimed that a number of British screenings are in the planning stages.
