Back to their roots, it seems...

Animal Collective musician Geologist has spoken about the band's new album 'Centipede Hz'.
It's a tough task. Animal Collective released their album 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' in 2009, achieving astonishing levels of acclaim.
The band's move into sample-delic soundscapes, mixed with blissful, child-like atmospheres influences a whole slew of new acts. Now, it seems that Animal Collective have finally completed work on a follow up.
Animal Collective musician Geologist chatted with Radio 1 host Zane Lowe last night, providing a few details of what to expect. Real name Brian Weirz, Geologist described the material as being "back to our roots."
"We got a little practice space in this barn on Josh (Dibb)'s mom's property and it was basically like being a garage band again" he said.
As a result, it seems that Animal Collective have moved away from their sample-based sound. "This one we wrote more as a rock band in a room and we wanted to record it that way as well" he insisted.
Which perhaps makes sense. Remember, 'Merriweather...' wasn't their debut album and followed some beautiful wyrd folk output.
'Centipede Hz' is set to be released on September 3rd. Tracklisting:
1 Moonjock
2 Today's Supernatural
3 Rosie Oh
4 Applesauce
5 Wide Eyed
6 Father Time
7 New Town Burnout
8 Monkey Riches
9 Mercury Man
10 Pulleys
11 Amanita
