Record breaking singer Amy Winehouse has been drug free for at least a year, her father has claimed.

Amy Winehouse's father has claimed that the singer is now drugs free and has been for approximately a year. Speaking to a Home Affairs Committee Mitch Winehouse made the claims during a discussion on the cocaine trade.

Currently making a documentary about rehabilitation services for heroin addicts, Mitch Winehouse compared his daughter's battle with drug addiction to those less fortunate than herself.

BBC News reports Mitch Winehouse as saying: "We were very fortunate - we were able to afford the best doctors, clinical psychologists, rehabilitation and hospitals".

Amy Winehouse recently made her comeback on the BBC television show 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The singer's first public appearance in the UK for a year, Winehouse performed a duet with her god-daughter.
