'Tesselate' due on July 16th

alt-J will release their new single ‘Tessellate’ on 16th July 2012 through Infectious Music. The track is taken from their Top 20 breaking debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’.
Minimal, ominous and triangle orientated, alt-j’s ‘Tessellate’ is an intimate affair. Joe Newman (guitarist/vocalist) says: “‘Tessellate’ is about the lingering of an old flame and the physical intimacy shared with that particular individual. This song definitely marked a new sound for us, and was quite a breakthrough.”
alt-j’s weird and wonderful combination of a cappella harmonies and deep bass sounds are hard to classify into a specific genre, so it came as a surprise to many that they managed to crack the Top 20 and rank at number 3 on iTunes.
To top of this momentous year, alt-j have also announced a 9-date headline UK tour for Autumn of this year, seeing them play their biggest headline show to date at the Electric Ballroom in London on 5th November. Before then the band will head into a busy summer of UK and international festival performances including Latitude, Green Man, Bestival, Fuji Rocks and Pukkelpop.
