Aloe Blacc has launched a new competition which allows fans to remix his track 'Tonight Downtown'.

With the markets tumbling around the world, it seems that financial insecurity is set to remain a theme of day to day life. Releasing his single 'I Need A Dollar' over a year ago, American soulman Aloe Blacc seemed to sum up the popular sentiment.

A slow burning hit, 'I Need A Dollar' was propelled by word of mouth to the upper echelons of the charts. Eventually reaching the Top Ten, the single was given a variety of remixes - both officially sanctioned and bootleg versions.

Perhaps the first hit single to emerge from Stones Throw, 'I Need A Dollar' became an unofficial recession anthem with the catchy piece of pop soul intruding on news reports about the deepening financial crisis.

Interviewed recently, the American singer spoke at length about how fans related to the track, resulting in 'I Need A Dollar' becoming a viral hit - click HERE to watch the video interview!

Preparing a new single, Aloe Blacc is set to release 'Tonight Downtown' later this year. The soulman has obviously been listening to the wide array of remixes, and has launched a new competition.

Uploading the original stems from the track, the singer has crafted a new Facebook application which acts as a production interface.

Using the original session files, fans can make their own version of 'Tonight Downtown'. The application is extremely thorough, and grants users a wide variety of techniques during the remix process.

Based on a mixing console, Aloe Blacc's new application allows users to add, move, delete different sections of the track with the functionality enabling fans to completing re-work the track.
